Brendan Benson Plots Spring Tour With The Stands

Detroit-based singer/songwriter Brendan Benson will release his new album, The Alternative To Love, on March 22 through V2. A day prior, Benson will embark on a six-date UK tour with support from Psychid and Five O'Clock Heroes, to be followed by a string of US dates beginning April 7 in Cleveland. Thus far, only seven North American dates have been confirmed, but hopefully a few more will be lined up before all is said and done.

According to Billboard, guitarist/keyboardist Dean Fertita of the Waxwings, drummer Matt Alijan and bassist Michael Borrigan will act as Benson's backing band for both the UK and North American treks.

Upcoming Liverpool rock outfit The Stands will be opening for Benson on the North American Trek. They are supporting their recently released debut, All Years Leaving (Echo/World's Fair).
