Room Noises

I first heard of Eisley nearly three or four years ago. I had ironically just moved from Texas to California when their name (at that time Mos Eisley) was popping up in the local music scene back in Dallas-Fort Worth. Now with an EP under their belt (not to mention a tour with Coldplay) the band of four siblings plus one best friend are back with their debut full length. Full of rich textural layers, and melodic melodies, Room Noises captures everything you would want in an album. Think the harmonies of The Sundays mixed with the early songwriting of The Cardigans. Although the single is "Telescope Eyes", I would have to say that my favorite track is "Memories" where the vocals seem to be at their best. Even though "Memories" was taken off their 2003 EP Marvelous Things it still stands the test of time. The other track off that EP that appears on the full is "Marvelous Things", however both were re-recorded for Room Noises. Another standout track is "Plenty of Paper", a song that is oddly up-tempo in comparison to the rest of the album. I know that I may be biased since I am from Texas, but there is a special quality that Eisley possesses. It is a breath of fresh air to hear music of this nature in a time where mundane music sometimes makes the airwaves oversaturated with normality. The band is on tour until almost the end of May so be sure and check them out live if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed.
