Odyssey

I was expecting a lot with the new Fischerspooner. Part of me wondered if they were going to be able to do it again, and part of me thought they could exceed the success of the last album. Their live shows are second to none, and yet no matter how many times we saw them they always managed to keep things fresh and exciting. Needless to say I was delighted when the new album hit my desk to check out. On first listen their new album is so different than their last one (that is nearly five years old now). Yes, it is still very danceable, but in a way that is a little more mellow and less in your face; something the last album lacked. "Just Let Go", the first track and lead single, picks up right where #1 left off and features the psychedelic sounding vibraslap. Track three, "Never Win", hosts more of a disco-punk beat that goes perfectly with the droning sing-along chorus. "Wednesday" is an interesting song whos beats are reminiscent of early Cure meets Bauhaus. Want to know what track will have you fist pumping front row center at their shows? Try "We Need A War", a song that is not only haunting lyrically but has enough energy to keep the masses on the dance floor. So if you are asking yourself what I thought, did it live up to my expectations? I would have to say yes that it did. You can never go wrong with Fischerspooner.
