We all remember the rock & roll soap opera that ended up with Josh Homme canning bassist Nick Oliveri from Queens Of The Stone Age. Over a year ago the QOTSA frontman said he could no longer deal with Oliveri’s destructive behavior, which was driving the pair apart. According to NME, it seems that the duo are speaking again. In fact, Oliveri has even offered his bass services to the band.
About the newly reborn friendship, Oliveri said: “I told him last time I was hanging out with him, 'If anything falls through and you need somebody, you know where your bass player is, dude -- you know where the bass player for that band is. So pick up the phone.’”
Is this an act of friendship or desperation? ”It ain't about a money gig thing for me - I know which band I play bass in,” he told Billboard. I guess that sort of answers my question. So what does he think about the new QOTSA album Lullabies To Paralyze? He said: “It's a good record. I was hoping for more of the first record with this one. I know there's growth, change and experimenting with music, so obviously I was caught off-guard a little bit. But I was hoping for something a little more guitar-heavy."
