Some Girls Are Punker Than Others

March 29, 2005

Word on the street is that Some Girls have just inked a deal with Epitaph Records, who own Anti Records, home to great artists like Neko Case, Merle Haggard, Tom Waits, and um, Some Girls bassist Justin Pearson's other project, the Locust. Crazy, right?

The Gal's arrrsome The DNA Will Have Its Say EP (which features a cameo from queen Yeah Karen O on vox) will be released on Three One G on April 26th. After that, the band will head into the studio with producer Alex Newport, who was at the helm for the Mars Volta's Tremulent EP, Panthers' Things Are Strange and a bunch of other records we likey, to record their Anti full-length.

But just to recap: Some Girls are now signed to Epitaph, a label that had many a chain wallet on lockdown during the first renaissance of mallpunk, that now owns Anti Records, who put out records by old people, loud people and lots of other amazing fringe artists. You can really wyle out on some "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" shit here folks! Swing Kids to Elliott Smith to Rancid to Tricky to Bad Religion? Our minds are blown!
