Trucker Love

The Drive-By Truckers are in LA for a show at the El Rey this Friday, April 8th - but before they handle that, they dipped into Amoeba on Sunset for a brief (by their standards) acoustic set.

The band got their first big applause of the night when they cracked open and took a swig of their beers, because it was, you know, still light outside and they were inside a store. Then, with quieter guitars and a smaller drumset, the Truckers powered through a fine selection of tunes to make you forget about the workday. First they played a Patterson song, then a Mike song, then a Jason song, then another Patterson one, another Mike one, and another Jason one before they finished off with a Mike song about racing cars. Afterwards they signed CDs and copies of their new DVD Live At The 40 Watt, but by then our order was ready at the buy counter so we decided to peace out.
