With traditional new rock media outlets going down the toilet, musicians are looking for new ways to promote their material. Providing music for commercials has become an increasingly powerful tool, especially when you look at artists such as the Polyphonic Spree and their US success partially fueled by commercials for HP and iPod. By now you have most likely seen the latest advertisement from Adidas, which was directed by Spike Jonze. The music for this spot was performed by Squeak E. Clean, which featured vocals by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O. The song, titled “Hello Tomorrow”, was made available on iTunes for purchase this week.
