M.I.A. Preps For A Busy Spring

This weekend, music's new golden child, M.I.A., will bring her genre-bending-pop-music-for-a-new-generation to Indio, CA, where she'll get thousands of asses shaking at Coachella. She'll then kick off a co-headlining tour with dance/punk mastermind James Murphy and his LCD Soundsystem on May 10 in Vancouver. The two artists will play nine dates together through June 12 in Washington, DC, but M.I.A. will be playing a few one-off shows on her own throughout the course of the tour, including a May 13 gig at the Independent in San Francisco and two NYC shows at SOB's on June 7 and 8.

The tour will also include a pair of national television performances. Before it kicks off, M.I.A. will visit man's man Jimmy Kimmel on May 3. She'll also swing by Late Night with Conan O'Brien while in NYC on May 27.

In other news, M.I.A.'s label, XL Recordings, has created an online player that will allow fans to download parts of three M.I.A. tunes. Fans can then create their own remixes, post them online, and check out some remixes from others as well. Check that out here.
