“I'm just a crosshair, I'm just a shot away from yo' ass.” Ah yes, the lyrics of Franz Ferdinand’s “Take Me Out” after running them through Snoop Dogg’s Shizzolator. This odd pairing may become a reality, as frontman Alex Kapranos has expressed an interest in collaborating with Snoop.
According to XFM, Snoop was quoted earlier this month saying that he wanted to work with the Scottish group. He said: “I'm working on an album that I plan to do with a lot of European artists. I wanna do something with the people that sang ‘Take Me Out’." It didn’t take long for word to reach Kapranos, who seemed keen on the idea. Kapranos said: “Someone told me the guy who does ‘Drop It Like It's Hot' wants to collaborate with us. That's great. I love that song and like his style."
In other Franz Ferdinizzle news, the group is current recording with producer Rich Costey in Kapranos home in Dumfries, Scotland. Costey has also worked with Muse, Bloc Party, Rage Against The Machine and The Mars Volta. The group is hoping to complete their sophomore album by the end of summer. As for the direction of the album, Kapranos explained: “I was joking with a friend about how if the last record was music for girls to dance to, this is probably music for girls to cry to. Or at least for them to leak a little tear to while they're dancing."
