Attention Indie Artists: MPTV Wants You

I don’t know about you, but I totally feel this guy’s pain. Although I would love to keep some of my coveted little indie bands all to myself, I would also love to spread the word about the next cool band that you should be listening to now. It is about time for something like this to happen. OK, so you are probably saying to yourself, “Erin, what are you talking about?” Well listen up, because its pretty cool.

Marc Cubas, Music Plus TV co-founder, is sick and tired of mainstream music and the outlets that it possesses. On June 15 Cubas and partner Dennis Tzeng are launching Music Plus TV, a Los Angeles based 24-hour live streaming web television station that will devote the majority of its airtime to independent artists. "MPTV will showcase the best of the indie music scene," says Tzeng. "So many of these bands and artists have talent and appeal that could be just as strong as mainstream artists, but they don’t have access. We’re here to provide that."

In the future (ie January 2006) the station plans to have a cable television network up and running with 24/7 programming including the best of independent short films, music videos, documentaries, concerts, interviews, and more. Sounds like a cool idea, I wonder why it wasn’t done sooner?
