New Order has redefined productivity in the recording studio. While most of us are still enjoying and digesting their latest musical offering, Waiting For The Sirens’ Call, Peter Hook is already talking about another album. Their sessions for Sirens were so constructive that they have enough leftover songs for a follow-up.
In an interview with XFM, Hook said: “To be honest, it’s very unusual for us to be that prolific. Every time you ‘come back’ the first question people ask is always, ‘So why did it take so long?’, so I think we thought by doing two at the same time interviewers would be scuppered for their first question."
Drummer Steven Morris added: “So we ended up with so many tracks we couldn’t choose between them because they all sounded like A-sides. In the end we just tried to make the record run smoothly.”
So it seems that New Order’s creative juices have definitely not stopped flowing. With this encouraging news, hopefully we won’t have to wait nearly as long for their next full-length record.
