Cursive Set To Release Rarities Compilation

Saddle Creek fans can circle August 23 on their calendars, as that is the date the label will release a tasty compilation of rarities from Cursive. The Difference Between Houses And Homes (Lost Songs And Loose Ends 1995-2001) will contain their long out of print 7-inches as well as two previously unreleased tracks. According to the band’s website, the cd will feature some impressive liner notes, including a 24-page storybook written by Tim Kasher and illustrated by Yuriko Yoshino of Eastern Youth.

To extinguish the break-up rumors that have been circulating since the release of their 2003 release The Ugly Organ, the band posted a message on their MySpace page stating that the group is still together. Bassist Matt Maginn said: “We were travelling so much that we needed a nice extended break in order to reinvigorate ourselves for writing new songs and to refocus on what we are doing musically and why. We also needed some time for each of us to do our own thing.”
