Jack White and Brendan Benson have been hard at work in their secret undergound music lair, creating a whole new rock & roll monster named the Raconteurs. Yes, the Detroit supergroup now has a name and is also now a complete band. They now feature Jack Lawrence on bass and Patrick Keller on drums.
Their debut record will most likely come out in 2006. White told Billboard: “We’re almost done with it. It’s something totally new for me – two songwriters working together. Dual vocals, dual lead guitars, dual songwriting duties.”
So how does it sound? It has been described as Detroit’s answer to Nevermind, which is a one hell of a bold statement. With dual vocals and dual lead guitars, this does sound like the recipe for some big tunes. White explained: “The songs are giant. They’re really large.” Large as in loud? Large as in complex? Large as in lengthy? Looks like we will have to wait until next year to find out what musical creations these mad scientists have recorded.
In the meantime, you can put two boomboxes in your room, one with The Alternative To Love, the other with Get Behind Me Satan, and play them at the same time.
