Spoonerspooner

Braving uncertain death by way of crumbling rafters (seriously, what guarantee do we have that the floor will not fall out again?!) the brave ones among us trekked to the midtown part of downtown to Webster Hall two nights back for a chance to see Spoon’s Britt Daniels shake a leg alongside up-and-uppers the Clientele. Font nerd alert: check out both bands featuring Bodoni on their websites! Serif-tastic!

There’s no denying the fact that Daniels puts on a solid show but then there’s also no denying that the bootlegs of a Spoon show wouldn’t be worth risking the ‘cuffs of the RIAA (Free Kim’s!) because, well, there’s not a whole lotta difference in sound. Is that a slight? It wasn’t meant to be cause the sound is indubitably spanking on both stage and headphone but, still. I guess this means we won’t be slanging Gimme Fiction mixtapes and tasty veggie grillies out the back of the wagon this summer.
