LP III

If you were the “bad ass” kid in one of those 1980’s teen movies (you know the kid with the one dangly earring, combat boots and messy hair) this band would be the perfect theme for that big scene where you strut down the hallway giving nerds wedgies and picking fights with the jocks. The Soviettes have perfected the classic punk rock three-chord progression, and their ability to do so has crafted some of the catchiest songs you’ve ever heard. Think Joan Jett meets The Teen Idols meets The Eye Liners meets The Ramones, however the role that each member of the Soviettes plays as a lead vocalist provides some considerable diversity on LP III. The songs encompass everything from bubblegum pop punk too spastic call and response breakdowns. Amazing harmony is provided with wonderfully recorded back up vocals, which essentially turn every song into one big hook. I guarantee you’ll be humming these tunes for days, because the lyrics are harder to get out of your head than the theme to Barney. The superb production of this album was masterfully done with the aid of Jacques Wait in Minneapolis (the band's home town) at the Terrarium, and mastered by Dave Gardner at Magneto Mastering. Bottom line is, this shit sounds good!
