For those attending this year’s Glastonbury festival with the hopes of seeing a Stone Roses reunion, don’t get your hopes up. Although Primal Scream and Ian Brown will be performing on the same day, it isn’t going to happen. Bassist Mani will definitely not be making a special guest appearance with Brown.
In a recent interview on XFM, Mani said: “Ian ain’t asked me to play. I don’t know where that came from. Another of those delicious Stone Roses rumours. D’you know what, I’ve started taking the mickey out of people and telling them any old crap. I’ve got my work cut out with Primal Scream making the new record and that’s where I’m at right now.”
At least we do have a new Primal Scream record coming in the not so distant future. The band will begin recording their follow-up to Evil Heat on Monday, with a small break from the studio for Glastonbury. About the new album, Mani added: “It’s beginning to sound great and we start recording properly on Monday. We’re gonna record right up to the Sunday morning (June 26) and then chopper into Glastonbury, do the show, then get the hell out of there and get back into the studio.”
