Sweetness Follows

Last night, those of us in Shangri-LA found ourselves knee-deep in scenester bro down at the swishy new Gehry-designed REDCAT Gallery at Cal Arts. It was the opening of “In the Sweet Bye & Bye”, an exhibition of the work of Margaret Kilgallen – and the first since her death in 2001.

Aside from the bringing together some of Kilgallen’s most striking pieces and unseen works, the show managed to foot the difficult terrain of celebrating a very loved artist rather than mourning her passing. Tommy Guerrero and Peggy Honeywell were on tap with musical interludes, while Bill Daniel screened his flick Who is Bozo Texino? and the rest of us tapped a two-step shuffle round Goodvibesville Way.
