Last week we mentioned the creation of a new east coast music festival called Across The Pond. Well scratch that. The festival is still ready to go, just under the new name Across The Narrows. Yeah, it isn’t quite as catchy, but it will do. The event will take place during October 1 – 2 at Staten Island’s Richmond County Bank Ballpark and Brooklyn’s Keyspan Park.
The shows will happen simultaneously, forcing music fans to pick one lineup vs. the other. Billboard is reporting that day one at the Brooklyn stage will feature the Pixies, Gang Of Four, Built To Spill, Rilo Kiley, Death From Above 1979, Mando Diao and Nine Black Alps. The Staten Island location will include the Killers, Interpol, the New York Dolls, British Sea Power, Lake Trout, Tegan & Sara and the Ordinary Boys.
Day two in Brooklyn will mark performances by Beck, Belle & Sebastian, the Polyphonic Spree, the Raveonettes, Gang Gang Dance, Whirlwind Heat and one band still to be announced. The Staten Island’s second day lineup includes Oasis, Jet, Doves, Lemonheads, Kasabian, Jesse Malin, the Redwalls and another band to be announced.
So how will music fans react to the two-day, two-location festival? Beck vs. Oasis, Rilo Kiley vs. British Sea Power, these are some pretty tough decisions.
