In one of the better second acts we’ve seen in a minute, the Simian dudes have gone from halfway decent rock band to genuinely enjoyable DJ/remixer duo Simian Mobile Disco (it’s the keyboardist and drummer, for those keeping notes.)
Following a great 7″ on indie Click Click Bang! records (available here), James and James bring the SMD experience stateside for three east coast parties next next week: Boston’s Enormous Room, Philly’s Fluid, and NYC’s Tribeca Grand. Better still, the guys have recorded a brand new heatrock of a mix CD that should be hitting the interweb shortly, running through everything from Ms Thing’s electro-dancehall “Love Guide” to the OG punk funk of Sexual Harrassment. Keep an ear out for that mix, as well as a full LP due sometime in 2006.
