Crazy huge Japanese pop superstars Puffy AmiYumi have made some big strides this year towards becoming more than just cult heroes in the US. The two extremely cute rock chicks (Yumi Yoshimura and Ami Onuki) are now known to just about any parent with kids over the age of five, due to their successful animated Cartoon Network show Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi in which the two girls play themselves - two cute Japanese chicks who can rock with the best of 'em... and get into wacky "hijinks". But the musical stylings of Puffy AmiYumi are not just for kids, oh no. These girls have a following of "legal" fans as well, enough to pack theaters all across the East Coast (and Chicago).
Live Puffy AmiYumi dates in North America are a rare occasion and when they DO get over here, they have little mini-tours like this one. The quick, five-date tour kicks off next week (August 18) with a show at NYC's Irving Plaza. From there, they'll hit Philly, DC, Boston, and Chicago, and then... well, and then that's it. We'll likely have to wait another year for them to return.
Here's the details:
08.18.05 - New York, NY (Irving Plaza)
08.20.05 - Philadelphia, PA (Theatre of Living Arts)
