It looks like new music from Belle & Sebastian will be in our hands in early 2006. Oh happy day! The Scottish pop maestros are said to be nearing completion of their seventh studio album, titled The Goalkeeper’s Revenge. According to Rolling Stone, the album is being produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck) and may be in stores by January 2006. We are still a ways off from getting a tracklisting, although songs titles rumored to be on the record include “White Collar Boy”, “Sukie In The Graveyard” and “Funny Little Frog.”
In other B&S news, the first ever biography on the band is set to be released in the UK next month. NME journalist Paul Whitelaw wrote the book, titled Just A Modern Rock Story. Out on September 1st, Whitelaw compiled extensive interviews with the band and will include some rare and exclusive photos as well.
For one final tidbit, the band is now expected to appear on Help! A Day In The Life. As we previously reported, this compilation is the latest benefit album for the War Child organization. Other artists confirmed include Radiohead, Gorillaz, Kaiser Chiefs and Damien Rice. The tracks are expected to be available for download on September 9.
