Flower Booking To Take Over Chicago's Metro For Week-Long Charity Event

Chicago-based booking agency Flower Booking has announced plans for a week-long series of concerts to celebrate their 15th anniversary. Taking place November 8-13 at Chicago's famed Metro, the six day, eight show event will feature performances from the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Local H, Detachment Kit, Ted Leo, American Analog Set and Criteria, to name a few, as well as reunion shows by fan favorites The Promise Ring and Smoking Popes. The good folks at Flower aren't just using these gigs as a source of extra income either. Their goal in organizing these shows is to raise $50,000 for Chicago-based children's charity, P.L.A.Y. (Possibilities In Life: Art For Youth), which was created by a handful of Chicago musicians and teachers to develop a program that would provide a constructive and creative outlet for young victims of sexual and physical abuse. Five years ago, Flower raised $18,000 for the charity with a similar event for their 10 year anniversary, but since, they've taken their game to a new level with clients like Jimmy Eat World, Interpol, Underoath, Pinback, Tortoise and by producing tour properties like the Take Action Tour.

In addition to the Metro concerts, Flower has organized an online auction to run October 13-22 with the hopes of raising another $15,000 in donations. While the full details of the auction are still being discussed, some of the items that will be included are pretty damn creative and special. It will likely include the typical autographed guitar or two and various band swag, but some of the highlights will include three prizes from Local H, Ted Leo and The Promise Ring. What makes 'em so interesting you ask? Well check this out. Fans will be able to bid on the right to make the ENTIRE 75-minute set list for Local H's performance on the opening night of the event, for one. In addition, die hard Promise Ring fans will be able to bid on a collection of rare demos, Polaroids and one of a kind memorabilia compiled by the band, and probably the coolest auction item will be a recording session with guest producer Ted Leo. Yep, one lucky winner will get one day of free studio time at Chicago's Semaphore Recording Studio with none other than Ted Leo behind the boards. Not too shabby, eh?

We'll give you the details of the auction when they become available, but until then, you can get the full event schedule, travel and ticketing info from the Flower 15 website.
