The members of Chico, California's Mother Hips met in the dorms at Chico State in the early '90s and quickly went from bar band to buzz band to cult favorites, releasing a pair of albums on Rick Rubin's American Recordings and touring with the likes of Wilco and Johnny Cash. The subject of two documentary films, Stories We Could Tell and This Is The Sound, the band went on "hiatus" at the request of singer/guitarist Greg Loiacono following the release of 2001's Green Hills Of The Earth. However, with a new outlook on life, a new approach to the band and free from any controlled substances, The Mother Hips are set to make their comeback with the release of a new 7" and EP on NYC upstart Camera Records, November 1.
The Mother Hips will tour the west coast in support of their new self-titled release beginning October 28 in Santa Barbara, playing here and there throughout the rest of the year with plans to hit NYC, Seattle, Philly, Boston and Boulder in '06. Details below...
