Alternative rock pioneers Dinosaur Jr., whose original line-up reunited earlier this year after a 15-year split, has just announced four more US shows to round out the year. Coming in the form of a pair of two-night stands in Chicago and New York on November 29 & 30 and December 2 & 3, respectively, the shows will bring the band back for indoor gigs in each market (their performances in those two cities earlier this summer were both outdoor). The NYC shows will be held at Irving Plaza and will be recorded for Dinosaur Jr.'s first ever DVD release.
The as-yet-untitled DVD will be directed by Gold In Berlin, which not coincidentally is run by J Mascis' brother-in-law, German filmmaker Phillip Virus. Set for release sometime in the first half of '06, the DVD will offer fans unfettered access to the historically elusive Dinosaur Jr. members - J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph. Once we get some more info on the DVD, we'll give you the heads up (of course).
