Gorillaz have been given the honor of kicking off the Manchester International Festival with a five-night run at the Manchester Opera House. All five nights sold out within hours of going on-sale, so now your best way to get at ticket may be through eBay. Dubbed Demon Days Live, the performance will feature the guest musicians from Gorillaz’ latest album recreating the record in its entirety. Taking place November 1st through 5th, confirmed guest musicans include De La Soul, Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays) and Roots Manuva. Damon Albarn will be participating as well.
For the rest of us, the Gorillaz road show is still currently in development, with a tentative start sometime in 2007. Being produced by the Gorillaz team and animation house Passion Pictures, the live shows will feature the two-dimensional characters brought to life on stage as 3D holographs. Rumored to be a cross between a live performance and a theme park experience, even the guest musicians from Demon Days will be able to take the stage with the animated characters. Yeah, this is going to be pretty sweet.
