Diplo, famed member of the notorious Philadelphia DJ crew, Holler Tronix, has released yet another astounding mix CD, this time as part of the long-standing Fabric Live series. In the last two years Diplo has rocketed to the forefront of the DJ movement, establishing his unique breed of krunk and new wave as a cultural norm. Diplo’s perfected style, widely known as the “mash up”, is a genre blending roller coaster ride, capable of inspiring even the most unlikely dancers. Having witnessed his live set nearly a dozen times, the remarkable DJ fails to disappoint but continues introduce fresh tricks to the game. Diplo’s uncanny ability to match beats from various genre’s is simply stunning and guarantees something for everyone while armed at the wheels of steel. The artist’s new mix CD features 28 tracks that range from old school '80s electro break beat to some of your favorite reggea-tone jump offs. The album's highlights include a remarkable transition between Aphex Twin’s “Windowlicker” and Cajmere’s “Percolator,” as well as another epic mash-up between The Cure’s “Love Song,” and Outkast’s “B.O.B.” The mix grooves and flows accordingly, as we might expect, transitioning through various moods that make each new song an exciting surprise. There is something about his style that accurately depicts the time, whether he’s dropping the hottest tracks from Slim Thug or rewinding the clock with The Clash.
