Ever since we caught wind of the news that Morrissey was working on a new album in Rome with legendary producer Tony Visconti, we have been uncontrollably salivating just thinking about how fantastic this record could be. Vistonti’s discography is mind boggling, including David Bowie’s Space Oddity, Young Americans, Low, Heroes, the list goes on and on. He has also worked with artists ranging from T. Rex to Luscious Jackson.
The Mozfather has given the new album a name, Ringleader Of The Tormentors. Several fansites have been reporting a possible release date of March 20, 2006 for the LP, with a single preceding the album in February.
Visconti has been keeping fans up to speed on his official website, on which he said: “I am two thirds of the way through one of the best albums I've ever worked on, with not only Morrissey at his best, but the plot has twists and turns which somehow involve film composer Ennio Morricone and an Italian children's choir.”
He added: “Not only is this a departure in his writing (my opinion) but he has extended his vocal range and has written extended melodies."
With what we already know, this has the potential to be Moz’s finest solo work to date.
