Before the ink dried on a press release announcing that day one of KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas had sold out, a similar release was blasted out announcing the day two line-up. Where day one of the annual Christmas show focuses on attracting the black-clad, hard-rocking contingent with bands like System Of A Down, NIN, Korn and other like-minded acts, day two is likely to draw a slightly more mellow crowd. With performances from Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Death Cab and the White Stripes, it's safe to say day two will attract the kids who would have gotten their asses kicked at day one of the festivities.
Jack Johnson, The Bravery and Hot Hot Heat will all make appearances on day two as well, but the most exciting news of all is that Nada Surf has been invited to perform. The insanely talented veteran three-piece has been busting their asses all year in support of their latest masterpiece, The Weight Is A Gift, so it's nice to see KROQ letting a real life "indie" band take part in their little party.
Tickets for night two go on sale this Friday at 6PM. The two night KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas will take place on December 10 and 11 at LA's Gibson Amphitheatre. Proceeds from day one will benefit local charity Hollygrove, while day two will benefit Para Los Ninos.
