Lyrics Of Fury
- story THE FADER
You could argue that Craig Finn has pretty much always been rapping – albeit on that Ian Drury/Mark E. Smith “exasperated white dude” tip. But “Saftey In Speed (Heavy Metal)”, off the new P.O.S. album Audition, is the Finnster’s first actual hip-hop track (as far as we know). Over some koto-sounding guitar lines and slappy Midwestern snares, dude drops movie crit social commentary (”The posters in the lobby of the theatre called it Predator/ I called it weak and unwatchable/ Carl Weathers and two future governors…”) and we hope that when we are in our thirties and grumpy, our own indie rap cameos are as enjoyable.
