Silversun Pickups Begin Work On Debut Album

After causing quite a buzz during this year’s CMJ festivities, as well as releasing their Pikul EP on Dangerbird Records, our indie rock superheroes the Silversun Pickups have entered the studio to record their debut full-length album. And there was much rejoicing!

The Los Angeles based quartet has been working on the tunes in Hollywood and Echo Park. They are recording a total of sixteen songs, some of which have been written in the past few weeks. Ah yes, new SSPU fresh out of the oven. The album is being produced by Dave Cooley (Rolling Blackouts), and engineered by Tom Biller (Sean Lennon, Jon Brion).

Songs that are in the works include “Well Thought Out Twinkles”, “Future Foe” and “Dream At Tempo 119”. After hearing demos of a handful of tracks, lets just say that we will be mighty excited to hear this album. These guys (and gal) also put on one hell of a live show, and rumor has it that they will hit the road this spring. If you are heading down to Austin for SXSW, mark the Silversun Pickups down as a must see on your list. You can thank me in March over a Shiner Bock.
