Human rights organization Amnesty International has teamed up with the likes of The Cure, The Postal Service, Snow Patrol and more for a series of download-only singles in an effort to help raise money for their organization. Launching December 10 and dubbed Make Some Noise, the program is aimed at inspiring a new generation to celebrate and stand up for human rights.
Each single will be a cover of a classic John Lennon song, including "Power to The People", "Love", "Grow Old With Me", "Isolation". All singles will be available via www.amnesty.org/noise.
Then in 2006, an additional group of artists will donate Lennon covers to the cause. The only artist that has been revealed thus far for '06 however is Avril Lavigne.
These singles will then be compiled for a compilation album that will be released sometime in 2006. All proceeds from the sale of downloads and the compilation CD will go to Amnesty International.
The first round of downloads is as follows:
The Cure - "Love"
Snow Patrol - "Isolation"
The Postal Service - "Grow Old With Me"
Black Eyed Peas - "Power To The People"
