MTV Networks and Microsoft have teamed up to form a new digital music service. Called URGE, the service will launch in 2006 and be integrated into a forthcoming new version of the Microsoft Windows Media Player. MTV Networks, which includes MTV, VH1 and CMT, says URGE will offer more than two million songs from the major labels and thousands of indies and will, of course, encompass all genres.
The press release then goes on to quote Clive and Lyor Cohen and Alicia Keys and Chris Martin, who all give their two cents on why URGE is the greatest thing since sliced bread... but uh, I don't think anyone really wants to read that, right? Yea, I didn't think so.
URGE will officially be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. Stay tuned.
