Hooray for a music awards event that doesn’t suck! The finalists for the New Pantheon Award, the replacement for the defunct Shortlist Prize, have finally been announced. This awards ceremony is to highlight noteworthy albums that sold less than 500,000 copies in the US. The trophy, plaque, certificate, or whatever the prize may be will be handed out on February 6th in Los Angeles.
Over ninety albums were selected as nominees, which were then whittled down to a top ten by a list of music industry types and celebrities. This unique panel ranges from KCRW’s Nic Harcourt to The OC’s Adam Brody. In fact, The OC has a total of three people on the panel, including Brody, creator Josh Schwartz and music supervisor Alex Patsavas. I guess Mischa Barton was too busy making out with rocker boyfriend Cisco Adler of Whitestarr to send in her list.
