While I must admit that the lineup puzzles me just a bit, the traditionally jam-band flavored Bonnaroo has some impressive alt-rock acts on the bill this year as well. The diversity of the performers is intriguing, meshing together artists such as My Morning Jacket, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Bright Eyes and Cat Power with the bands I would expect including Blues Traveler, Bonnie Raitt and Medeski Martin & Wood.
There are some pretty juicy names on this year’s Bonnaroo bill, including Radiohead, Elvis Costello & the Imposters and Beck. This is the only North American date confirmed so far by Radiohead, making this the first opportunity for US fans to hear some of the band’s newest material. This also marks the band’s first US festival appearance since Coachella 2004. Other noteworthy artists performing this year include Death Cab For Cutie, Ben Folds, Devendra Banhart and Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks.
The fifth annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival is set for June 16-18 in Manchester, TN. Tickets go on sale February 11 through the festival’s official website.
