The Los Angeles quartet Silversun Pickups have been hard at work, finishing up their debut full-length album for Dangerbird Records. After releasing their Pikul EP last year, along with a few stellar performances at CMJ, we have been anxiously waiting for the new material.
The band has been keeping us up to date with the progress of the album on their official website, on which a recent posting from frontman Brian said: "well here we are. we are 2/3 through the record. the finish line is dusty and available. it is about 12am ish. we have many a visitor. our good friends mel and travis are visiting, fresh from their haunted echo park cabin. they are amazing artists.”
He continued: “i'm very excited that we are finally playing an all ages show at the troubadour on feb 3rd with dead meadow. it's been quite difficult for us to play an all ages show because all the tours and what nots we've been attached to seem to exclude the under 21-ers, who are very important to me. i hope you (you under ager you) come out to the show. and talk to us. please. do not be shy. we'll be looking for you.”
The band is also performing at a special benefit concert in Seattle. Proceeds from the KEXP sponsored show will go to WWOZ, which is a New Orleans community radio station. The show is taking place at Chop Suey, which will also feature The Black Angels, Film School, Common Market and Sera Cahoone.
