Keeping their momentum going after last year’s release of their critically acclaimed Red Tandy EP, The Mother Hips have wasted no time hopping back into the studio to get back to work. The band will be recording their sixth full-length album between now and March, which will mark their first full album release since 2001’s Green Hills Of Earth. The new tunes will be produced by The Mother Hips and Dylan Magierek (Mark Kozelek, Erlend Oye, Call And Response) for a tentative Fall ’06 release on Camera Records.
As if this wasn’t enough to keep the band busy, they have two side-projects that are slated for release in ’06, including the debut LP from Sensations (with Greg Loiacono and Paul Hoaglin from the Hips and former Cake drummer Todd Roper), as well as the sophomore release from Ball-Point Birds (with Hip’s frontmen Tim Bluhm and Greg Loiacono).
Last but not least, Mother Hips are performing a handful of shows between now and April, including a show on March 18th at SXSW.
