History Lecter

Last weekend we finally cracked out our new ostrich loafers—please believe!—and hit the the Delancey for the ’60s soul party Reaction, with this particular installment featuring a rare appearance by The Mighty Hannibal. TMH is known for sweaty soul and croon-y R&B semi-hits from the late ’50s and ’60s, but your man is still DOIN IT, rocking a sharkskin suit and a bowler hat, carrying a cane and reminiscing about a woman he once knew only as NBA (yes, that stands for “nuthin but ass”). Most of Hannibal’s jams are out of print, but Norton Records revived the highlights a couple years back on a comp called Hannibalism! Dig into it.
