Our dude Wildman just wrote in to tell us that Patato Valdes – the star of tonight’s Gen F Live kickoff event at Canal Room – was in Art Blakey’s band on the Cosby Show. A little internet goggledy-goggling led us to a February ’86 episode called “Play It Again, Russell” where Coz’s dad gives a disappointing performance on the trombone, thinks he’s lost his touch, then makes his family proud with a crack comeback performance. We would be cueing up the Coz DVD right now, but FUCK IT – Patato’s playing our house tonight. See you there.
