Come on, how could you see these two CD singles with their identical sideways looks, exposed shoulders, and stars-as-graphic design element and NOT smell a showdown? Ak'sent is a female rapper from LA, who's "Zingy" features FADER cover star Beenie Man; Tami Chynn has been honing her crossover dancehall sound in Jamaica for a minute, and her "Hyperventilating" single is a heavily vocoder-ed take on the Stepz riddim (best known through Sean Paul's "We Be Burning"). Both are likeable, radio-ready cuts - but we're going to place our bets on Tami, who not only held her own during two Sumfests in JA and announced that she "cyaaaaaaaaaaaan wait!" for big tings in 06, but also seems to be wearing some sort of pajama bottoms under her jeans. Next level.
