EODM just got off the stage and I can't tell who is sweatier: me, or them. I think they win. After the show, I made my way into our 2nd story office in the Levi's FADER house and plopped down on a sofa to start taking my photos off the camera...had to start with the photos as I am pretty much left speechless after having my face rocked off at the show. One person that was definitely not speechless was drummer Josh Homme. He sat on the sofa next to me and was very vocal about some of the photos I took, and how Jessie "The Devil" Hughes looked like he was ready to have something XXX rated shoved in his mouth. I nodded in agreement, mainly since it kinda does.
Anyway, back to the show. Lets set the stage. I have seen EODM three times and each time has been entirely different. I have seen them as a three piece in the original lineup, a three piece with stand-in people, and now I have seen them as a five piece. Yes, five death metal eagles, with two on drums. Amazing, you can't get much better than two drummers going at it simultaneously.
The mood was set when they asked if we were ready to rock. It was obvious that everyone in attendance was in fact, ready to rock, and rock we did. In a 45 minute set, EODM managed to cover almost both of their albums, and threw out about ten shout outs to all the ladies in the crowd. Highlights of the set included "I Only Want You", "I Want You So Hard (Boy's Bad News)" and a full on jam of "Cherry Cola", with sleazy and infectious raw beats that kick you in the face like a bad whisky hangover. If you still haven't checked out the ass-shaking, beer-slamming and boot-scootin' tunes of EODM; hop to it. They left the fans at our space wanting so hard, and wanting so good.
