Too Real For YouTube

March 21, 2006

Word to your retired hooded sweatshirt that still smells like a split Dutch and a spilled 40, Boot Camp Clik specialized in that long lost subgenre of 90s rap video: a bunch of guys rolling 25-deep through Brooklyn with Timbs unlaced and faces screwed, doing those bacdafucup, kicking-at-nobody-in-particular moves. Who needs Melyssa Ford when you got that? Their Video Surveillance DVD retrospective dropped last week, collecting 32 clips from various artists under the BCC umbrella (Black Moon, Heltah Skeltah, Smif N Wessun, etc). The barely pent up aggression of “Who Got Props” still makes a dude wanna hang with his dudes (We said it! Pause yourself!) and kick invisible foes and biters and shit. But the blue ribbon goes to the funny ha ha “Laflaur Leflah” vid. Tough guys do dance.
