They Might Be Giants are kicking off a three-week tour at the end of this month. The accordion rocking group begins their latest jaunt on April 26th in Washington, DC, staying close to the east for the duration of the tour. If you are not within driving distance to any of their upcoming gigs, there are plenty of ways to still get a dose of TMBG.
First, the band has proved that they can write a song about anything. This was proven through their recently released DVD, Venue Songs. As a way to pass time on the tour bus, the group challenged themselves to write an original song for every rock club they were performing in. After it was written on the bus, they rehearsed the new song at soundcheck and performed it that night. This experiment went so well, TMBG recorded the best of these songs, collaborated with a visual arts team to create videos to accompany them, giving birth to the Venue Songs DVD. Catch a sample from this release on their official website.
Also, the group has developed an impressive following for their monthly podcast, filled with exclusive songs and treats from their mighty vault. Over half a million monthly downloads must be proof that this is a podcast worth checking out! You can sign up for the podcast by clicking here. Speaking of new tunes, we can expect the next album from TMBG, which is being produced by the Dust Brothers, to be released in early '07.
