Band To Watch: White Whale

What do you get when you combine members of some of Lawrence, Kansas' favorite indie rock bands - i.e. The Get Up Kids, Butterglory, and Thee Higher Burning Fire? Well that's easy, you get White Whale, the latest bit of awesomeness to spring forth from perennially fantastic indie label Merge Records. A special friend from that label blasted me an early copy of the band's debut album, WWI, and I have to say I like what I hear. It's artistic and expressive, bombastic and exciting and sure to make the indie kids happy this summer when it hits shelves on July 25, but don't take my word for it.

They even made up a hand gesture too, as demonstrated below, and everyone knows kids like the hand gestures. It's kind of a rip off of the West coast gangsta's "Westsiiiiide" pose, but I don't think anyone's going to get the two confused.
