Billionaire playboy Richard Branson rappelled from a helicopter at Toronto's waterfront over the weekend to announce plans to bring the UK's highly successful Virgin Festival to Toronto this summer.
The fest will be held at Toronto's Island Park on September 9-10 and will include performances from the likes of Gnarls Barkley, The Raconteurs, Wolfmother, Massive Attack, the Flaming Lips, Sam Roberts Band (obviously), and more - about 40 artists total.
A similar event will be held in the United States on September 23 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. So far, the only band announced for the US festival is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Remaining acts and more details will be revealed on July 10. We'll keep you posted.
