Battles
- story THE FADER
Everyone goes on and on about how sensitive indie rockers are, but really, aren’t rappers the thinest skinned musicians around? How about this for an example: on the song “Death Or Life We Want You” from the Dears’ forthcoming album Gang of Losers, lead emoter Murray Lightburn sings Just when you think you’ve had enough/ Here comes more death from up above. Now if this was hip-hop, that would surely be heard as a subliminal and DFA ’79 would have already recorded and posted a response track, talking about how they “kinged this Canadian rock shit.” Just sayin’.
