The Song That Ate The Interweb
- story THE FADER
With their collab track “My Love,” the Timbo/Timberlake/Tip trinity has captured the hearts and minds of the world’s computer people like nothing we have ever seen - first winning breathless raves as a lo-res mp3 leak covered in anti-bootlegging drops, and now getting hit with remix after MySpaced remix. Homemade highlights? A spot-on blend from Philly club DJ Benja Styles affixing the accapella from Vybz Kartel’s “Picture” onto “My Love”’s looped intro, and Brooklynite Cousin Cole making an entire track out of the original leak’s “Atlantic Records for T.I. clearance” voiceover. The entire phenomenon is about half awesome, half “relax, dudes!” but people enjoying music is never a bad thing. Now somebody get to posting live mp3s of JT’s go-go version of “SexyBack” from his Washington DC show last week…
