Greg Dulli blew our socks off during SXSW at the Levi’s/FADER Trading Post. The Twilight Singers were definitely a highlight of our week in Austin, who have been out on the road promoting their latest album, Powder Burns. Fans will get another chance to see Dulli & Co. live as they kick off a second North American run in October. Mark Lanegan will be with the Singers as well, sharing vocal duties with Dulli throughout the nineteen date tour.
In other Dulli-related news, he is getting the legendary Afghan Whigs back together later this month. Although I wish it was for something a little more substantial, they will be reunited for a brief time in Memphis to record two new songs for an upcoming compilation titled Unbreakable. Although I love Twilight Singers, I would flip out if Afghan Whigs would crank out just one more tour.
If you have never had an opportunity to see the brilliance of Afghan Whigs live, check out this classic performance taken from MTV’s 120 Minutes. They were one hell of a band.
