Jets to Brazil

October 06, 2006

Last night you could find (some of) us at Webster Hall, getting into FADER fave Miho Hatori and later, the Brazilian Girls' electronics, detached vocals and big beat-esque drums—which reminded us of fifth grade (in a good way!) Unlike most of the homogenous all-indie/all-frat/all B&T nights at the Web, the BGs pulled in one of the motleyest crews we’ve seen in a minute: Ibiza wastoids, yuppies and rugrats, indie heroes. Also—and this may have been the gin—a couple of glow sticks? Whatever, regardless, the good vibes were in effect: Cloaked in a gold sequined dress, singer Sabina Sciubba was all, “There’s a whole world of people full of love!” We weren’t trying to do a trust fall with the dude in the mesh tank standing next to us or anything, but we still got warm fuzzies from all the lounge-jazz classy charisma in the air.
