The Stooges Ready First New Album In Thirty-Three Years

Iggy Pop brought the legendary Stooges back to life in 2003 with a mind blowing performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Yours truly was there for that unbelievable night of rock & roll. This helped spawn a reunion tour in 2005 and now after thirty-three years, finally a brand new album.

The Weirdness features three of the four original Stooges, Iggy Pop, guitarist Ron Asheton and drummer Scott Asheton. The band's original sax player, Steve Mackay, appears on the album as well. Ex-Minutemen and fIREHOSE bassist Mike Watt fills out the lineup, who joined up during the Coachella performance of '03.

The band penned over thirty songs for the album, all written at a cottage in Florida early in'06. The Stooges put the tunes to tape at Steve Albini's studio in Chicago this past October and is currently being mastered at the UK's historic Abbey Road Studios. We will soon get to hear such new tunes as "Trollin'," "Greedy Awful People," "Claustrophobia," "Mexican Guy," "I'm Fried," "ATM," "O Solo Mio," "She Took My Money" and "End Of Christianity." The Weirdness will hit stores on March 20, 2007, via Virgin Records.
