Thicker Than Water

January 17, 2007

Between all the overheard subway chatter about "Robert Thicke" as of late, and the constant early-AM plays of "Lost Without You" customized for Ms Jones's Hot 97 morning show, Robin Thicke is looking like the slow burn artist of this past year. We were feeling The Evolution Of Robin Thicke when he played it for us back in November of '05, but the breathy, poplocking lead single "Wanna Love U Girl" never took off like it should have (secretly, we blame the haircut. There was power in that mane, mayne! Didn't you learn from Samson?) However, Thicke's Lil Wayne collabs during 2006 woke some sleepyheads, and we kept noticing copies of The Evolution quietly (but steadily) making their way to the CD changers of friends and associates throughout the year. And in the space of a few hours this morning, we not only got emailed "Lost Without You" remixes by NYC's DJ Obsession and Philly's Benja Styles, but were told that Jason Seaver's son was going to be performing the track on Jay Leno tonight. Stuntin like his daddy!
